Tool # 7 Digital Storytelling

I enjoyed working on this tool. It will be very helpful next year using using it to teach my Pre-K students about "Book making". I think that learning how to become authors will be fun for my students by using this type of technology. I could not post my picture story but I will keep working on it!

Tool # 6 Wikis

“Wikis” What a great idea!!! Using this tool also is going to help me as a teacher to organize, plan, and edit information about my projects. I think it will be awesome to use the Wikis in the classroom by the students while they gather information to create their own books online. I am very excited and cannot wait to share and use this tool in my class with the students next year.

Tool # 5 Tagging and Social Bookmarking

The tool # 5 was also easy and fun for me. After my registration on delicious, I realized how much time I have been wasting trying to find games and fun activities for my students. Going from one web site to another made my work more difficult to select and save information. I also bookmarked web sites like PBS KIDS, starfall, El Dia de los NiƱos Songs Rhymes, Fingerplays, and Games Texas State Library using Tags like “Spanish songs”, “kid’s games” and “pre-K”. Next year, using this tool is going to be a very fun, easy, and quick way to share information with other teachers and with my students in the classroom, too.

Tool # 4 Cool Google Tools

Wow!! Working on this tool was fun and easier. I hope that the following tools will be as easy to work on. It was absolutely fun learning about Google Docs and Google Reader. I did not have any idea how many copies of just one document could be made when I send attachments by E-mail. From now on, using Google Docs is going to be easier to gather and organize information, and there will be just one copy. Awesome!! I do believe that these cool tools will keep me on track on the new information from blogs and web sites that I subscribe to. I hope to continue learning and growing as a professional and give my students the best of my teaching.

Tool # 3 Image Generators

I just finished with tool # 3 and I cannot believe I did it all by myself. It was very hard for me to save the images after having trouble creating them. The good thing out of working on this tool is that I have learned a lot. The images that I created and posted in my side bar by using a gadget are related concepts that I use to teach in my classroom. Fun learning ways of Literacy and vocabulary development are important for children in Pre-K, especially for those who are acquiring a second language. I hope the next time I need to work on similar samples, I will not have as many problems.

Tool # 2 Commenting

I am so glad that I have started the online professional development program by creating my own Personal Learning Network (PLN). I think the PLN is a great opportunity for teachers and students to share needs, ideas and reflections. While visiting Mrs. Yollis’ 3rd Gr Classroom Blog, the point that stood out and amazed me was to see how using the new technology, teacher can help students to find the way to express, share and apply their new learning.
I selected the following five blogs to make comments: English With Rosa classroom Blog, La Bibliotecaria Loca SBISD, Mrs. Yollis’ 3rd Gr Classroom, Weblogg-ed and Blue Skunk Blog. I have learned a lot from all of them and I hope I have made good comments.

Tool # 1 I Just Started!

Technology is not my strong suite. I cannot believe that today I created a blog!!!! I really struggled trying to pick out the template for it!!! I do not know why working with technology is so difficult for me. I really appreciate all the help that I received from my mentor to complete this assignment. Working on the creation of the avatar was so much easier and fun, that I even laughed during the process.
I know this is just the beginning of a new experience in my career as a teacher and also as a human being. I am so excited about all the new learning that I will get through the 11 Tools for the 21st Century Learner program and I cannot wait to discover how I will apply this learning during my instructional time with my students in the classroom!
